Squeaky Floorboards?

Squeaky Floorboards?

Mr Kingston says, "It’s very easy to forget about what’s going on underneath! Our home is 10 years old and the underside had never been checked. We had squeaky floors in various parts of the home."

It was when he was talking to his neighbour, Mr Wright, that he became aware that Mr Wright was also experiencing squeaky floorboards and had already arranged for Park Home Chassis Services Ltd to visit his home. Having seen an article in Park Home News, Mr Wright spoke to Dave Foale of PHCS who explained that the squeaky boards could be for various reasons but they would come and look underneath the home and make any adjustments where necessary. Mr Wright also wanted to ensure the underside of his home was checked thoroughly prior to the winter months.

"In the majority of cases of squeaky floorboards, it will be due to loose coach bolts, loose support stands and possibly incorrectly positioned or adjusted support stands. This doesn’t have to be a costly exercise, but should be addressed sooner rather than later before the situation worsens", says Dave Foale.

It was at this point that Mr White and Mrs Cooper also decided to ask PHCS to advise them.

"It may be just a coincidence", says Mr Kingston, "but about 3 years ago there was an earthquake shudder across the Midlands and it was a few weeks after that that we started experiencing squeaky floorboards. Possibly the tremor could have caused some disruption to the support of the homes in the area."

PHCS checked the underside of each of the homes and tightened all coach bolts between the chassis and wooden timber bearers, in addition to tightening any loose support stands. In some cases additional support stands were required where extra support was needed, or to replace existing ones which were rust corroded, as in the case of Mrs Cooper.

The team at Park Home News are glad that the article was helpful to the residents of Allington Gardens and spurred them into action to keep their park home undersides up to scratch. Here's some feedback from the residents to Park Home Chassis Services Ltd - it seems they are very pleased with the result!

“Thank you for carrying out the work on my home. And to Chris for staying late to do the work.”
Mrs Cooper

“The work you’ve done has cured it! We recommend your excellent service. Chris was very polite, very obliging and couldn’t do enough for you. I like it that you offer to come back if we have any problems.”
Mr Kingston

“I am happy with the work and very happy to recommend your company.”
Mr White

“Our squeaks were at the front end of the home. We needed all our coach bolts tightened, and some of support stands were so loose they could have moved. Our squeak problems are now resolved and I couldn’t have wished for a better service from you.”
Mr Wright
