How is
the chassis affected?
The chassis on your park home is the only part of its
entire structure that cannot be replaced.
There are many factors that can influence the condition
and support of your chassis but often damage and
corrosion go unnoticed or are overlooked until it is too
late. Simply put
.out of sight, out of mind can have a
devastating effect.
The chassis on your park home will probably have been
designed to support the original weight of the home.
Any additions made to the home will affect and
increase the load distribution of the home;
New tiled roofing
New cladding
New kitchen or bathroom
Replacement windows or doors
The chassis must have a sufficient amount of supports
(jacks) to cope with any new loads. Without this being
addressed, a feeling of the home leaning or subsidence
will be a resulting factor.
The metalwork on the chassis, and/or the original
supports, is subject to corrosion.
This may be as a
result of:
Aging 10 years or over
Poor fitting skirting or being open to the elements
Location near the coast
The base on which the home is sited
It is important to check the chassis as any corrosion
must be removed and the chassis treated to prevent
further decay. Left unattended, the metalwork will rot,
cause distortion and eventual collapse.
Any squeaky floors can indicate the chassis needs
attention. |
